There was a woman who had a very fulfilling, rewarding career in the television/video industry. It was wonderful but equally exhausting. After she and her husband were married, she decided to leave that frantic life behind and would often join him on his travels. As an International Consultant, his travels took them to so many wonderful places all over the world, and to adventures and experiences she vowed she would never forget.

One such adventure led them to a tiny Caribbean country that piqued their interest. So, after some time, they moved to that tiny country. The husband changed his title to ‘Consultant – Selectively, Semi-Retired’. They began work on building their home, and eventually they settled in to enjoy a more tranquil life far away from the frenetic pace! Their new, relaxed lifestyle offered them much more time together to enjoy each moment. They traveled for leisure rather than business, they enjoyed exploring their new environment, and savoring those little things that were so often missed through the course of busier days. Sometimes they would be still, content to relax in the silent comfort of each other’s company.

On one rainy day they were engrossed in a game of Scrabble when the husband challenged the word she had put on the board. He asked her for the definition. She gave it. He challenged further asking her to use it in a sentence.

A bit annoyed, she said, “I’ll do better than that. I’ll tell you a story!”

From then on, at any given moment, he would give her a knowing look and utter a single, random word. And thus began the ramblings of a loquacious lass whom the husband called his Verbose Vixen.

---------------------------------

My husband passed away suddenly in September 2020. His ears are no longer able to hear my words and the voice by which they are spoken. I want to share my words with all of those who would read them. This is the reason I started The Verbose Vixen.

I thank all of you for joining me. Perhaps, if those of you reading this would give me just one word, I will attempt to give you just a little escape from the world of non-fiction.

In memory of my husband, and all of the stories we made together.
